This Sunday is Easter Sunday.

While there is no specific call in Scripture to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a special way on a certain Sunday each year, there is the call to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ every Sunday.  Our world—which at times we can be (rightly) very critical of—uses this particular Sunday each year to consider the greatest life ever lived.

Call me crazy, but I think that’s a good thing.

Yes, I wish it were that way every Sunday.  And it is for us!

I see Jesus in His use of everyday things in the stories (parables) He told and the other life lessons He taught; and I see the apostle Paul saying “all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some” (1 Cor. 9:19-23); and I kind of believe they think it’s a good thing as well.

So, since you have family, or friends, or co-workers, or neighbors, or others, who this week may be responsive to an invitation to go to church with you in a way that will possibly not be repeated any other time this year, perhaps you might want to ask them to meet you here, or even come with you.  Just a thought.

But what kind of Bible classes and worship service will they experience?

Good question.  And South Fork has great answers.

Our Bible classes will be excellent.  Our kids will have their terrific Journey Land experiences.  Our adults have been going through some wonderful studies, with our Millennials/Young Adults upstairs class looking at a more active faith with the study “Love Does;” our auditorium study going through the marvelous story of the Bible with “God’s Mystery;” and my class in the New Classroom looking at “13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do,” with the upcoming lessons, “They don’t shy away from change” and “They don’t focus on things they can’t control.”

Perhaps there are some you know who need to be reacquainted with love, or the story of God, or the call to bravely make positive changes in their lives.  Bring them to Bible class with you, or meet them here.

During our morning assembly this Easter Sunday Charley Belch will lead our singing, and he always leads such a joyful, positive song service.  The sermon is “Living With Hope.”  We will speak of the hope the resurrection gives us, and specifically how the hope we live with gives us a better understanding of the past, more confidence for the future, and a mission of service in our world today.

So I’ll see you Sunday as we learn more of God’s will, remind each other of our love for God and for each other, and encourage one another by worshiping our great God and celebrating our living Lord Jesus together!

And I do think this feeling and opportunity is good for more than just Easter Sunday.  That increased openness is likely going to be around for at least a few weeks.

So if you’re reading this in our Bible classes or worship assembly and it actually is Easter Sunday, do not fret!  I have good news!  We have these wonderful Bible classes and encouraging worship assemblies every Sunday!

So feel free to invite them for next Sunday!
